A good charging cable is indispensable for every EV driver, whether you charge at home, at work, or on the go. The right choice depends on, among other things, the plug type, charging capacity, number of phases, and the desired cable length.
For our comprehensive, up-to-date explanation, read Which charging cable fits my electric car?. There you will find an explanation of Type 1 and Type 2, single-phase and three-phase, 3.7/7.4/11/22 kW, and various cable lengths.
What do you look out for?
Cable length: Choose sufficient length for your parking spot without unnecessary cable on the ground. Read also which cable length you need.
Plug type: Type 2 is the standard AC connector in modern European EVs, while some older vehicles use Type 1.
Load capacity: Match the cable to the charging point and the car. A heavier cable does not make the car's onboard charger faster.
