Charging cables for electric cars

The right charging cable for home and on the road

Discover Type 1 and Type 2 charging cables in different lengths and versions. Suitable for public charging points and socket-type home charging stations.

Charging cables for electric cars

A good charging cable is essential for safe and reliable charging of your electric car or plug-in hybrid. Bar2Charge offers charging cables for both Type 1 and Type 2 connections, suitable for everyday use at home, at work and at public charging points.

Type 1 and Type 2 charging cables

Type 2 is the most commonly used AC charging connection for electric cars in Europe. Some vehicles use a Type 1 connection, which is why we offer charging cables for both standards.

The cable you need depends on the connection on your vehicle and the charging point. Always check which connector type your car uses before choosing a cable.

Straight and coiled charging cables

Our charging cables are available in different versions. In addition to standard straight cables, we also offer coiled charging cables.

A straight cable offers maximum freedom of movement and is practical when the charging point is farther from the car. A coiled cable remains more compact when it is not fully extended and can be convenient for daily use.

Charging at public charging points

Many public charging stations have a socket connection and no fixed cable. In that case you use your own charging cable to connect the car to the station. Having your own cable is therefore useful when charging at public points, car parks, businesses or other socket-type locations.

Suitable for socket-type home charging stations

Charging stations without a fixed cable are also used at home. If your station has a Type 2 socket, simply connect your own charging cable between the station and your car. The same cable can then be used at home and on the road.

Different lengths and charging powers

Not every charging location is the same. Our charging cables are therefore available in different lengths and versions. Depending on the model, we offer compact cables for daily use and longer versions when the distance between the car and charging point is greater.

Charging cables also differ in maximum charging power. Versions include single-phase 16A, single-phase 32A, three-phase 16A and three-phase 32A. The actual charging power is always determined by the combination of your car, charging station and cable.

TÜV-tested and certified charging cables

We supply charging cables developed for safe and reliable use. Various models are TÜV certified and comply with relevant safety standards for EV charging. Always check the product page for the exact certifications and technical specifications of the selected cable.

Weather resistance and IP rating

Our charging cables are designed for outdoor use and can withstand normal weather conditions such as rain and splashing water. Depending on the model, cables and connectors may have an IP55, IP65 or another IP rating.

The exact protection class can differ by product. Always check the product specifications for the correct IP rating.

Suitable for almost all electric cars

With the correct connection, our charging cables are suitable for almost all electric cars and plug-in hybrids. Most European vehicles use Type 2, while some older or specific models use Type 1.

Which charging cable do I need?

When choosing a charging cable, pay particular attention to:

  • Type 1 or Type 2 connection
  • Maximum AC charging power of your car
  • Single-phase or three-phase charging
  • Maximum current rating of the charging cable
  • Required cable length
  • Straight or coiled cable
Good to know

A charging cable with a higher maximum power is not harmful to your car. Your vehicle only draws the charging power it supports.

Frequently asked questions about charging cables

Which charging cable do I need for my electric car?

First check whether your car uses Type 1 or Type 2. Then check the maximum AC charging power, number of phases, maximum current and the required cable length.

What is the difference between a Type 1 and Type 2 charging cable?

Type 2 is the most common AC connection in Europe, while some older or specific vehicles use Type 1. The correct cable depends on your car and the charging point.

Can I use a 22 kW charging cable if my car can charge at a maximum of 11 kW?

Yes. A cable with a higher maximum rating is not harmful. A car that supports a maximum of 11 kW AC will not suddenly draw 22 kW.

What is the difference between a single-phase and three-phase charging cable?

A single-phase cable uses one phase, while a three-phase cable can use three. Choose a cable that matches your car and charging point.

Can I use my charging cable at public charging stations?

Yes, if the public charging point has a suitable socket. Always check that the charging point, car and cable connections match.

Can I use the same charging cable at home and on the road?

Yes. If your home charging station has a socket, the same suitable cable can also be used at public charging points.

Which charging cable length should I choose?

Choose a length that comfortably bridges the distance between your car's charging port and the charging point. A longer cable offers more flexibility.

What is the difference between a straight and coiled charging cable?

A straight cable offers maximum freedom of movement. A coiled cable remains more compact when it is not fully extended.

Can I use a charging cable outdoors and in the rain?

Yes. Our cables are designed for outdoor use. The exact IP rating differs by product, so always check the product specifications.

Are the charging cables TÜV certified?

Several charging cables in our range are TÜV certified. Exact certifications may differ by model.
