What is Vehicle-to-Load?
V2L stands for Vehicle-to-Load. This technology allows energy from an electric car's high-voltage battery to power external electrical devices. The V2L adapter connects to the car's charging port. If required, activate the V2L function in the vehicle and then connect suitable 230V equipment.
Does a V2L adapter fit every electric car?
No. A Type 2 charging connection does not automatically mean the car supports V2L. The vehicle must specifically support power output through the charging port with an external V2L adapter. Support can vary by model, trim, model year, sales country and software version.
V2L is available on certain versions from brands including Hyundai, Kia, Genesis, BYD, MG, XPeng, Zeekr and NIO. Always check the owner's manual and vehicle specifications. If in doubt, use our Auto Guide before ordering.

How much power does a V2L adapter provide?
The actual available power is determined by the car's maximum V2L output. Depending on the vehicle this may be, for example, 2.2 kW, 3.3 kW or 3.6 kW. An adapter with a higher supported rating cannot make the car deliver more power than the vehicle allows.
If you connect several devices at the same time, add their power consumption together. This total, including possible startup peaks, must not exceed your car's maximum V2L output.
Which devices can you use with V2L?
With sufficient available power you can use suitable camping equipment, cool boxes, laptop and phone chargers, lighting, small household appliances and suitable power tools. Always check the device's power consumption and possible startup peak before connecting it.
Safe use of Vehicle-to-Load
Only use undamaged equipment and keep plugs and connections clean and dry. Follow the instructions for the car and V2L adapter. Stop using it if you notice damage, a burning smell, deformation, unusual noise or excessive heat.
Do not use a V2L adapter to feed power back into a home or building through a socket, extension lead or distribution board. A fixed backup-power or home installation requires a purpose-designed, professionally installed system.
